About the event

We are aiming to restore some of the more open areas of Astonbury Wood to species-rich glades. One such area is currently overgrown with nettles. With annual cutting and raking, we hope to be able to reduce the nutrient content of the soil, thus reducing competition from dominant species such as nettle, and allow more specialist woodland and meadow plants to grow. A perfect opportunity for you to come along and try your hand at traditional meadow management with a scythe!

Please wear steel toe cap boots for this event.

Suitable for adults only (age 18 and over).

Please be aware this event will on potentially muddy and uneven ground, and please ensure that you have a reasonable level of fitness to take part.
